Guisborough Methodist Church is a congregation of Christians meeting in the centre of the old market town of Guisborough in the heart of Cleveland.
Our aim is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with those who do not yet know Him and to deepen the faith, dedication and assurance of those who already do.
We are part of the Methodist Church of Great Britain (www.methodist.org.uk) and also an active member of Churches Together in Guisborough, an association of all major Christian churches in the town. The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. We are an evangelical Church meaning that our mission is based on the person and message of Jesus Christ as contained in the Bible, that God loves us and wants us to have a personal relationship with Him.
We welcome all people to our church fellowship and congregation, of whatever age or background, families, children and young people, parents, grandparents and everybody else. We believe in the God-given value of each person, regardless of how old or young they may be. We seek to provide a safe and happy environment for children to play and develop socially and spiritually. We also try to provide a welcome, friendship and support for everyone whether we meet them in one of our Sunday services or in the many other groups that meet regularly during the week.
We also use the church premises to support the community of Guisborough through activities organised by the Bridge Association: Foodstop (the food bank), coffee mornings, soup and a roll and general neighbourhood support.
The activities of the Bridge are described on their own website (www.guisborough-bridge.org.uk). The Guisborough Bridge Association aims to provide life and support in the heart of the community. It was set up as a community project by ‘Churches Together in Guisborough’ and is an independent charity.
